Our Story
At Anansi Data Analytics, we aim to build the world's best solutions for working with financial and economic data.
We started with a simple but urgent realization: even the most respected data sources— such as the IMF, World Bank, or OECD — often suffer from limited historical information, clunky accessibility, inconsistent coverage, and hidden errors. Meanwhile, treasure troves of valuable data remain locked in PDFs, scanned yearbooks, and fragmented archival sources.
This is not just an inconvenience—it is a major obstacle for research, policymaking, and investing.
After years of suffering from this sad state of affairs ourselves, we decided to solve these problems by doing things differently—by treating each dataset with a researcher's eye for detail, and the ambition to create data solutions of unrivaled coverage and quality. Our work is deeply inspired by the influential research of Dr. Karsten Müller of the National University of Singapore (formerly Princeton), one of the world's premier experts on macroeconomic and financial data. In collaborations with economists from MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, and other leading institutions, he has spent more than a decade on developing unique macro-financial datasets. Dr. Müller now brings his expertise to Anansi as our Head of Research, helping ensure our data meet the highest academic standards.
